do you spend more of your time wanting to be happy or wanting to be satisfied?
("satisfied", here, is defined as an accomplishment more so than a soul craving).
i've spent too much of my time wanting to simply sit and be happy instead of living a day to be proud of. and living a life towards satisfaction is simply a day of checking off to do's, doing what you need to do to get where you want to be, and being able to wake up the next day feeling right on track.
i think it's a powerful mindset to have and one that God can use even beyond what we can imagine.
the more i contemplate things, the more i realize that happiness--at least for me--has served me an empty plate. sure, i'd rather not do Task A and watch a baseball game instead. but, if Task A will serve me for where i want to go, it seems foolish and unwise to choose leisure time above it.
i deeply, deeply admire people who are doing what they want to do. it produces an intense satisfaction and appreciation for life as opposed to just being happy.
disclaimer: it took me a long, long time to get to this place.
you are always gray and unhappy, why don't you get active and do something? there is nothing in quoting scripture that will automatically fix that feeling. do something. use your head. become worldly and learn from what others have to say than just god...try looking at what you can learn from every culture and religion—i don't think you god would mind that at all. talk to a psychologist, hell go to a christian psychiatrist. but get up and do something. get outside of your head and start your life, because your god is not going to start it for you.
